Reading a Purity Figure

Three numbers, three different questions

>99% is the specification every batch is released to. The figure on a certificate is what a laboratory measured for one lot.

Purity specification

>99%

The release threshold. Every batch has to clear >99% by HPLC before it ships, and this is the figure quoted in the specification table on every product page. It is a standard, not a measurement.

Measured batch purity

e.g. 99.9%

The number an independent laboratory actually reported for one production lot, printed on that lot's Certificate of Analysis alongside the method, the date and the laboratory's own verification link. It is a measurement, not a standard, and it belongs to one lot only.

Batch number

e.g. VPBP10100

The string that joins the two. It is printed on the product page and on the vial, and the certificate for that lot prints it as the lot number, so a reader can confirm the certificate in front of them describes the vial in front of them.

Every Volta batch is released to a specification of >99% purity by HPLC. A Certificate of Analysis reports what an independent laboratory measured for one specific lot: a single figure such as 99.9%, on a named date, by a named method. Every product carries a batch number, and the lot number printed on its certificate is that same string, so the document can be matched to the vial rather than taken on trust.

The batch number printed directly above the QR on that same panel is the lot number on the certificate. Look it up in the certificate archive and the two strings either match or they do not. Nothing has to be taken on trust.

What's on a Certificate of Analysis

Every COA documents the analytical results for a specific production batch. Here's what each section means.

Product Identity

Compound name, molecular formula, molecular weight, CAS number, and batch/lot number for traceability.

HPLC Purity

The percentage of the target peptide in the sample, determined by reverse-phase HPLC. Look for >99% on research-grade compounds.

Compound Identity

Molecular formula, molecular weight, and CAS number are reported so the material can be matched against reference data for the target compound.

Appearance & Solubility

Physical characteristics of the lyophilized powder — color, form, and reconstitution behavior in standard solvents.

Endotoxin & Sterility
