Gonadorelin is identical to endogenous GnRH rather than an analogue of it, which makes it the appropriate tool compound for studying the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis in its native configuration. The critical feature is that pituitary response depends entirely on pulsatile delivery: continuous exposure desensitises the GnRH receptor and suppresses gonadotropin release, which is exactly the mechanism that long-acting agonists like leuprolide exploit therapeutically. Its half-life is only a few minutes, which is what enables pulsatile protocols but also constrains experimental design.

GnRH3 Neuropeptide Regulates PGC Proliferation and Sex Differentiation in Zebrafish
Researchers at the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, discovered that GnRH3 neuropeptide controls primordial germ cell proliferation and sex differentiation in zebrafish. Using gene-edited mutants, they found reduced PGC numbers and more males in adults. The findings appear in Endocrinology.
Triptorelin: Synthetic GnRH Agonist for Hormone Research
Triptorelin serves as a synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist that regulates hormone levels for research into conditions like prostate cancer and endometriosis. It initially stimulates then desensitizes the pituitary gland, reducing LH, FSH, testosterone, and estrogen. Studies highlight its role in managing precocious puberty, breast cancer, and women's health issues, with a specific structure and proven efficacy in clinical trials.
